A Brief History

Lengemann Corporation is one of the largest Topcon distributors of Machine Control, Lasers and Surveying equipment in the United States. 

The 'Lengemann history' started when Gerhard Lengemann began his apprenticeship in 1947 at Otto-Fennell Sohne in Kassel, Germany as a surveying instrument maker. Gerhard worked in all phases of manufacturing including the research and development department where prototypes of theodolites and levels were designed and introduced.

In 1958, Gerhard and his wife, Hannelore, moved to Toronto, Canada where he worked for a Fennell distributor, Carsons Instruments Limited, as a service technician.

In 1962, 'Gary and Hannah' immigrated to Niles, Michigan and created the G. Lengemann Company in their basement as a service facility only.

In 1964, the G. Lengemann Co. constructed a new building and in time two additions were added due to  expanding their service facilities and selling surveying instruments along with field, drafting and engineering supplies.

In 1975, a branch office was opened in Altoona, Florida and in 1978 the G. Lengemann Co. was sold to its Niles, Michigan employees and the Altoona branch became Lengemann of Florida.

Today, Lengemann is owned by second generation 'Lengemanns'... Ralph and Elke Lengemann. We have 33 employees that cover Florida... from stores located in the Altoona and Jacksonville areas.
